The world can seem like an unfriendly, threatening place, yet we all want safety, health, and happiness for ourselves and our loved ones. How can one ordinary person -- you or me -- make a positive difference in this world? One way is the practice "paying it forward." While the steps might be simple, the outcome could create a sense of luck and good will that changes the world. A couple in Edmonton during the last Home Renovation show shared this story with me..their son had moved out and they were about to "repurpose" his old room. They loaded his bed in their truck and headed into town to donate the bed to a charity. At that particular time, the facility was at capacity and had to turn the couple and their donation away. Upon leaving the couple heard the next fellow in line asking about a bed needed for his young son. The couple approached him and offered him their bed. He graciously accepted. The couple happily delivered the bed across town for the young man and also went home a second time, emptied out the matching dresser and also delivered that to the young man. I love to hear stories like this; they restore my faith in mankind.
